According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Area Organization, The memorandum of understanding in seven articles and two notes was signed by Hamid Reza Momeni, chairman of the board of directors and CEO of this organization, and Ali Yadqar, elected by the board, and Nicholas Pilcher, head of the Malaysian Marine Research Foundation.
Cooperation activities under this memorandum on issues such as education and scientific exchanges, the reduction of bycatch, the development and distribution of marine grassland, the investigation and conservation of marine turtles, information exchange, joint research programs and focused financial opportunities Is.
It also focuses on the scope of research activities in research fields, including the study of the sex of turtles in Qeshm waters, the impact of climate change on the turtle population, coastal temperature monitoring, research to provide management solutions and decisions, in This memorandum has been emphasized.
The term of this memorandum is from the date of signing, December 7, 2017, for five solar years, which can be renewed if mutually agreed.
According to the agreement, the technical supervision and proper implementation of this memorandum is the responsibility of the cultural, social and tourism departments of Qeshm Free Area Organization.
It is worth mentioning that the Malaysian Marine Research Institute(MRF) has been starting two phases of scientific research from 2015 aimed at protecting green and Hawksbill sea turtles that are endangered in the world,with the management of Dr.Nicholas Pilcher and environmental experts of Qeshm Free Area;and The Memorandum of Understanding has allowed these surveys to continue for another five years to help preserve these marine animals.
